Cooking Information:

  • Estimated Time: 50 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium sized bangus (milkfish)
  • 2 cups water
  • 3 pcs tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 cup tamarind juice (boil tamarind in 1 cup water then extract the juice)
  • 1 cup puso ng saging (banana blossom)
  • 1 cup kangkong (swamp cabbage)
  • patis (fish sauce) or salt to taste

Procedure:

  • Clean and cut bangus into 3 pieces. Sprinkle with salt.
  • In a casserole, Boil the tomatoes and onions in water.
  • Add bangus (milkfish), puso ng saging (banana blossoms) and patis (fish sauce) to taste.
  • Simmer for 3 to 5 minutes. Add the kangkong (swamp cabbage) then serve.

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs pork ribs, cut into 2 inch cubes
  • 2 cloves, crushed
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 packet sinigang tamarind soup mix
  • 15 cups of rice washing (hugas bigas)
  • 3 pechay leaves
  • 1 radish, chopped in thin round slices (optional)
  • 1 small tomato, chop in half (optional)
  • 2 small potatoes, cut into cubes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon peppercorn (paminta)

Procedure

  • Heat rice washing in a pot until boiling temperature
  • Add pork ribs, tomato, onion and garlic
  • Add salt and peppercorn (paminta)
  • Boil for 5 to 10 minutes
  • Add potato, radish and pechay
  • Pour whole packet of sinigang tamarind soup mix
  • Simmer for 2 minutes then serve
